    National winners in the Literacy Planet “Word Mania 2016” competition.

    Living Waters won the 1st place in year 5 and year 4, and won the 2nd place in year 3 nationally in the Literacy Planet “Word Mania 2016” competition.

    Hannah Chew (3G) is the NT winner of the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge!

    Congratulations to Hannah Chew (3G)! Hannah is the NT winner of the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge! During the holidays Hannah recorded the books she read and how many minutes she read for. Hannah read and logged the highest amount of reading minutes for the NT. For her efforts Hannah received a $50 Book Club voucher for each issue (8 in total) in 2016. The total prize value is $400 worth of Book Club vouchers.

    Vismaya Damodaran Year 6 A won the "Newton Level - Enrichment Stage – Maths Challenge for Young Australians". Conducted by Australian Maths Trust, Australian Government Canberra

    This was a national challenge where students were able to complete the Enrichment Stage over a 12-16 week block between March and September. There were 32 questions and Vismaya was able to complete these questions in 4 weeks, with a total of 31 correct answers, which earnt her high distinction, putting her in the top 10% nationally. The questions required a high level of maths ability and problem-solving skills, together with the ability to logically work through multi-step problems. Nationally 734 entered the challenge at Newton Level.

    Year 6 won Best Book - 2015 QLD/NT in the "Write-a-Book-in-a-Day annual 12 hour national writing competition"

    Write-a-Book-in-a-Day is an annual 12 hour national writing competition where students and adults across Australia compete to write stories suitable for children’s hospital libraries and raise money for children’s cancer research at the same time. One of our teams of Year 6 students, the Flaming Unicorns, were commended in the Qld/NT category for their story entitled Juggling Mysteries. All our Year 6 teams enjoyed the challenge of planning, writing, illustrating and publishing a book in 12 hours and more importantly the year group raised more than $1600 for cancer research.
